The Vines Have Arrived!

See the newly installed picture rail?

All the picture rail in the Cross House has been missing since, I think, 1950.

After having purchased new picture rail, I thought I was good to go!

Then Bo arrived. And I was astonished to learn that there was more to learn about picture rail than seemed possible, and I did a post about this.

In short, my new picture rail was…boring. It was simpler than what the Cross House likely had originally, more 1915 bungalow than 1894 Queen Anne Free Classic.

Well, can there be anything worse in life than having — oh, the horror! — inappropriate picture rail?

I was thus confronted with a problem. How could I transform…

…this, into a facsimile of…

…this?

Well, Decorators Supply to the rescue!

I ordered these vines, which will easily glue onto the flat part of the picture rail. I painted the picture rail gold, and will paint the vines…chartreuse, I think. So…stay tuned!

Chartreuse vines–sublime! Love the aesthetic Ross! The parlor is so lovely and unique; 1894 woodwork and stained glass with lovely modern colors and furniture that complement. I love the tie in with the library!

The chartreuse will look amazing against the wood!

Had another thought–the picture rail in gold looks so beautiful with the stencils, frieze and ceiling motifs. The chartreuse vines sound like a great idea. Can’t wait to see the vines in place:-)
