Ta-Da!
On Saturday, after having (or so I had assumed) finished painting the paneling under the center triple window green, I was a block away and looked back at the house.
Just staring mindlessly, it suddenly popped into my head that the inset panels really needed to be the wall color and not the trim color.
Oh!
Today was gorgeous and I was quite happy to spend the afternoon on the roof.
I love the results.
Wadda ya’ think?

Very nice! The contrasting colors really pull this together. Great work!
Agreed. Nice call.
Welcome back, Bo!!!!!!!! I have missed you!
Looks very good. So how much time do you spend at the house on average per week?
THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE. PERFECT.
I have no idea how the paneling was painted originally. The earliest image I have is circa-1932 and the colors would not have been original.
When I painted it all green it was because most of the decorative swirls on the house were originally painted the same as their background. So I copied that theme.
But looking at it on Saturday, from a block away, I realized that maybe I was wrong. Today I painted the inset panels the wall color, and stepped back. It looked…ok. Not bad. But not great. I was not sure if I would keep the changes.
Then I went down to the sidewalk and looked.
Oh baby! YES! Who cares what was there in 1894! I loved the look!
It blends really really well now. Well done!!
It is PERFECTION.
Looks lovely! As was originally intended. I enjoy your dedication!
That’s the ticket!
PERFECT!!! Well done, Ross. You are amazing!
Ta-da! is right.
Hi Ross.
This looks just perfect. It balances the length of the windows on either side, and the infill panel in contrasting colour really makes it stand out. What a wonderful difference.
I think Colin found the right descriptive word: balance. The solid trim color was a bit overpowering. This feels RIGHT.
This feels right. Like it should have been
Great work! That looks right. I agree with the balance comment!
Two thumbs up… 🙂
Spot on!!!
Looks Perfect, Ross!
Well done….at first I was afraid you were going to leave it solid green….sigh
It looks MUCH better in the two tone!
Thank you! And I agree!
Stunning! It’s amazing to me what a huge difference all of the little details make. She is one lovely lady!
