13, 14, 15…SQUEE!!!!!!!!

Today, two of the curved stained-glass windows in the Round bedroom were removed so they can get restored. I once climbed that high on the ladder…and swore I’d never do it again. How I didn’t pee my pants I’ll never know. “Justin! Help meeeeeeeeee!”

Sensibly, I stayed inside to help push the windows out. Once removed, Justin handed them to me.

I’m always amazed how denuded a room looks sans its stained-glass. The center glass was restored in 2015.

I can guarantee the ladder company would say: “DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME. STUNT DOUBLE IN PLACE DURING THE FILMING OF THIS PRODUCTION.” I am with you and would NOT be up there.

You are braver than I am. My heart would stop before reaching the top.
How many stained glass windows are left to restore? Is there an official number?

AS a firefighter, I did a lot of things most would consider dangerous. I hated ladders but when my captain said, “GO!” — I went. As a hazmat instructor/trainer working with live anthrax, sarin nerve agent and ricin, I still do things most would balk at. BUT . . . buying a house to restore is one of the craziest things I’ve done. LOL (And I loved all of these things!!)

“People are like stained – glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within” ~ Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
