The Cross House was built in 1894. It is located at 526 Union Street, in Emporia, Kansas. I purchased the house in March 2014.

Baby Steppin’. Quietly.

The weather forced me back inside and I have spent the last week very much enjoying fussing with the library. Mostly, I have been doing the final touch-ups on the ceiling. I have also been stenciling the frieze medallions. These are now done save on the north wall. Today, I emptied the shelving island of…

Purloined Peacocks. FUCK!

Somebody has stolen it. Yes, it is gone. I have been aware for months now that something was amiss. After the initial 2014 purchase of the single roll I later found three more rolls, but in a different color way and sans the mylar background. I have always kept the rolls handy on the…

Pondering No More

Yesterday, I posted about two patterns I created on the library ceiling. PATTERN #1: This is a repeat of the ‘cracked ice’ effect I did in the parlor. While I love it in the parlor, it did nothing for me in the library. This surprised me. So, I did the other corner… PATTERN #2: This…

Ta-Da!!!!!!!! Announcing…

Y’all have been asking me to create videos. I have long wanted to, but these concerns have stopped me: I have zero extra time. So, how do I add something time-consuming to my life? Because I have no extra time, I also have no brain space to learn a whole new, ahh, thing. I watch…

A Centipede in the House

The idea is that the ceiling is open to the night sky. Soon, there will be stars. The main ceiling will have the same ‘cracked ice’ pattern as the parlor. And I am pondering an enhancement to the teal border. The night sky comprises four separate layers: Base pale teal. Black gloss cut 50%…

A Health Update

A seeming miracle has happened. During the last 48-hours or so I feel…better. Much better. The best I have felt in like 18 months. For about half of 2022 I have been incredibly lethargic. I was napping three times a day. Doing anything took titanic effort. I recall climbing up a ladder a while back…

Decorating Begins!

The painting of the library ceiling begins! The color looks like white but is a very pale teal, a match to the parlor ceiling. I am uncertain how I will embellish the ceiling so the next few weeks should be quite the adventure. Ross excited!

Ghostly Apparitions

With temperatures plummeting for a while, I have abandoned the front porch and moved back inside. For now. My focus is finishing the renovation of the library and its decoration. To this end, the room and its books needed protection from dust and paint. And, for some reason, the shrouded room reminded me of…
