Medallions!

In a previous post, I wrote about five medallions which were on the original drawings, but did not appear to have ever been installed. The medallions were shown under the triple-arched windows on the second-floor, north facade.

FLASH UPDATE! I discovered evidence that the medallions WERE installed, but later removed. I could order custom-made medallions matching the drawing, but at great $$$. Or, I could order the above, inexpensively, from WF Norman!

Well they probably substituted something from a catalog the first time anyway. The ones they have in stock look great to me
W F Noman puts a 2016 stamp on the Cross House renovations? I think it is a great idea!
What was the evidence? Were the medallions that were installed the ones in the drawing? ?
The medallions are long gone. All that remains are tiny flat-head nails which once held them in place. The nails stand just a bit proud of the flat background, an indicator that they once held something.
Gah! This is so exciting!
I know!!!!!!!!!!
I vote with the others, use the 2016 ones and put the $$ somewhere else. After all, we have no way of knowing if the original ones matched the architect’s drawings anyhow, since Mr Cross and his builder did take a few liberties with the design in other places…
The new ones look great. It’s so great that companies like WF Norman are around and sell this stuff!
Yeah, even I want to buy stuff and I don’t even own a house!
Or are the original medallions somewhere on a shelf in the basement?
