Proof That Ross Is Insane
Today.
So…Ross wanted to paint the background of the five rectangles surrounding the swags on the tower.
Ross wanted to paint the background in color #5, as suggest by Zac.
Ross liked what Zac had photo-shopped.
Ross then asked Justin and Scott to help him erect a mini-scaffolding.
Ross thought, too, that a ladder atop the mini-scaffolding would be a good idea.
Ross was then a bit surprised when Justin and Scott, via their facial expressions, clearly indicated that the ladder idea was a poor idea.
Ross however, being, well, Ross, prevailed. When all was set in place, Justin and Scott quickly departed, shaking their heads, leaving Ross to his stubborn, possibly deserving, and certainly ignominious fate.
Ross though, by the very fact that he posted this, is pleased to announce that he is alive and well. But…there are four more rectangular panels to paint.

I took dramatic license with my writing.
I was quite safe. It just looks scary!
The scaffolding was secured to the house so it could not fall away. And the bottom of the ladder was kept in place by a 2×4.
This does not however mean that I wasn’t scared! I loathe being HIGH in the air on a ladder and will only do so for brief periods.
While sitting in Mass at 430 I felt compelled to pray especially for safety???? & health & now I know why!!!!!????????????????????????
The background in #5 is very beautiful.
The background in the picture is not color #5.
Oh It is hard to tell from the picture. But regarding background under dining room window color #5 looks lovely. Can’t wait to see the tower swags’ rectangle background in #5!!!

Righto! Whew! I wish he would have used a cherry picker or anything but the reality of it. Thankful he is safe & sound.
I’m not afraid of heights, but that looks scary! Are you sure that repelling out the window wouldn’t actually be safer than a ladder on top of scaffolding? I think you should have Justin and Scott help you with a full-size scaffolding or wait until the next time you have one of those lifts to finish. We don’t want you to get hurt.

All is well in the land!
Today I had a wild and possibly terrible thought. What if you “burnished” the scrollwork on the cornice? Similar to what you did on the Column Capitals. They would certainly “pop” and if you painted it and rubbed it off it wouldn’t be terribly obvious, or completely go against the original or theme. Just a thought, I am young and don’t know much about the original works on these wonderful homes, but I have learned much from Ross. Both Bad and Good Ross!
The scrollwork on the huge cornices, while often in shadow in my images, are quite obvious in person. They really do not need enhancing!
But I like people who have wild & terrible thoughts…
Why build scaffolding? Havn’t you ever heard of cloud hooks?

Oh, this gave me tsouris, and I’m not even Jewish. Please, Mr. McTaggart, surely there is a safer way to do this. We all very much look forward to your posts, and hope for many, many more.

Rest assured, I was quite safe (see my reply to Mary).
In spite of the measures described to Mary it does not seem as safe & there has got to be a safer way????
This makes me want to drive to Emporia to get a sneak peek of what this looks like now!! (Don’t worry, too much work and not enough crazy-time in my schedule to follow through with that idea, tempting as it may be.)
Also, I’m not thinking about the ladder too much because I might have a panic attack imagining it.

That ladder is a “Nope!” Ladder.

If I had to climb up there to paint there would be a third color of golden yellow on that side of the house via me wetting myself. D: I am barely, after much “exposure therapy”, able to stand on my third story balcony without twitching, let alone dangling off the side of a house.
You have NO idea how brave you are to:
#1 – be on the Nope Ladder
#2 – keep a steady hand while on the Nope Ladder
#3 – be planning for four more trips up

My dad moved the ladder across on the back of my house while I was on it. I was shouting at him not to and then he started anyway and my screaming went up like 3 octaves. I just told my mom this story about 3 years later and she had this divorcy look on her face
